SAN ANTONIO – (November 1, 2021) With an increasing number of United States military veterans reaching retirement age over the next decade, more people are facing the need to plan for the next stage in their life. According to a recent survey by HealthView, a healthy 65-year-old couple retiring in 2021 will spend $662,156 on health care costs throughout retirement2. With Medicare serving as the primary health insurance provider for Americans aged 65 and older, USAA is encouraging veterans—and all considering retirement or who qualify for Medicare due to disability—to review their options during the Medicare annual enrollment period from October 15-December 7.
