USAA President and CEO Joe Robles was commended on May 1 for his leadership in promoting and advancing diversity and inclusion. The Texas Diversity Council recognized Robles as one of the 2014 CEO Champions of Diversity during the 10th annual Diversity and Leadership Conference in San Antonio.

“We are honored to recognize General Joe Robles with the CEO Champion of Diversity Award for his commitment to a workplace that is inclusive,” says Dennis Kennedy, founder and CEO of the National Diversity Council. “Since our inaugural Texas conference a decade ago, we have made great strides in fostering diversity within our workplaces and leaders like General Robles have been instrumental in this process.”

Robles had the honor of accepting the award from one of his longtime mentors, former U.S. Secretary of State and retired Army Gen. Colin Powell.

“The military community USAA serves is stronger for its diversity, and so is our organization,” Robles said. “When you pay attention to the rich array of experiences and perspectives that our employees bring to their jobs every day, you’re bound to deliver better solutions.”

In addition to the CEO Champions of Diversity Award, USAA has been recognized for its diversity by LATINA Style Inc., Equal Opportunity Magazine, and Workforce Diversity for Engineering and IT Professionals Magazine.
