For the second year in a row, USAA has been named one of Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity and is within the top 50 of organizations who received the designation.
The study used a sample of more than 50,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within their U.S. operations and was based on four criteria: direct recommendations, indirect communications, diversity among top executives/board and diversity KPIs. The 500 companies receiving the highest total scores were awarded The Best Employers for Diversity 2019. USAA is ranked No. 36 on the list.
This most recent award further demonstrates USAA’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
“USAA serves one of the most diverse populations in America – the U.S. military. It is therefore no surprise that we are deeply committed to attracting and retaining a highly diverse workforce to serve the needs of the military community,” said Deneen Donnley, EVP chief legal officer and general counsel. “We are deeply honored by this third-party recognition.”
As part of the survey, employees were asked to rate their own employers based on general diversity, gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ+, age and disability. The wide range of question aligns to USAA’s mission of defining diversity as the collective strength of unique characteristics, experiences, skills, backgrounds, perspectives and cultures.
In addition to USAA’s relationships with diverse groups, the company also boasts a number of internal diversity business groups aimed at further promoting diversity within the company.
