President Franklin D. Roosevelt described Dec. 7, 1941 as a day that would live in infamy. On that date, Japan executed a surprise military strike on Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Hawaii. It was one of the worst attacks in history, claiming many lives and prompting the U.S. to enter World War II.
