Making mobile payments easier and more secure for USAA credit and debit card holders
Sept. 9, 2014 – USAA announces its integration with Apple Pay™, providing its members the chance to be some of the first to make mobile payments easily, securely and privately using iPhone 6™, iPhone 6 Plus™ and Apple Watch™. USAA members will have an incredibly intuitive and secure way to make purchases once they add their USAA credit and debit cards to Apple Pay, and after it becomes available later this fall.
Apple Pay represents a significant shift in how consumers pay for goods and services. With industry standard Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, Apple Pay enables a seamless experience. Adding in tokenized NFC – or one-time use payment credentials – has tremendous potential to increase personal security and reduce fraud associated with plastic cards.
“This is one of the most radical changes to the payments industry since plastic credit cards, and USAA is committed to being at the forefront of this transformation to make our members’ lives easier and more secure,” said David Bohne, president of USAA Bank. “This latest mobile enhancement provides members even more security, choice and flexibility to make purchases where and how they want.”
In addition to supporting Apple Pay, USAA is also launching several enhancements to its mobile app. These include:
The USAA mobile app for iPhone is also being optimized for iOS 8 and iPhone 6. To learn more about USAA’s mobile capabilities, visit www.usaa.com/mobile.
