Making mobile payments easier and more secure for USAA credit and debit card holders
Sept. 9, 2014 – USAA announces its integration with Apple Pay™, providing its members the chance to be some of the first to make mobile payments easily, securely and privately using iPhone 6™, iPhone 6 Plus™ and Apple Watch™. USAA members will have an incredibly intuitive and secure way to make purchases once they add their USAA credit and debit cards to Apple Pay, and after it becomes available later this fall.
Apple Pay represents a significant shift in how consumers pay for goods and services. With industry standard Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, Apple Pay enables a seamless experience. Adding in tokenized NFC – or one-time use payment credentials – has tremendous potential to increase personal security and reduce fraud associated with plastic cards.

In addition to supporting Apple Pay, USAA is also launching several enhancements to its mobile app. These include:
- Personalized mobile discounts and offers at in-store and online retailers throughout the nation.
- Testing facial and voice recognition biometrics with a limited number of members to understand how this technology can make members’ financial information more secure.
