Top 10 Military Vacation Destinations - USAA Community.jpg

If you had to pick one city in all the United States to visit which would you choose!? Did your choice make the list below? Each of the top ten vacation destinations have unique attractions and experiences to offer. I have highlighted a few, but would love to hear your favorite spots!

Vacations become even more special during the throws of military life. It forces you to make the most out of the time you have together. My husband is truly tired of hearing the reasoning, “who knows when you will be deployed or away next- we should travel now while we can”! Luckily, he humors me and we have made many wonderful memories traveling as a family!

Here are the top 10 Vacation destinations:

Orlando, FL With so many unique big-ticket attractions like, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal and Walt Disney World, it is no surprise that Orlando is at the top of the list. Many of the attractions in Orlando, including Disney World, offer discounts for military servicemembers and their families. Be sure to check out your installation Information, Tickets and Tours (ITT) office for details.

Atlanta, GA The top attractions according to TripAdvisor are the Georgia Aquarium and Atlanta Botanical Garden. I would be tempted by a southern food tour, to sample all of the city’s culinary delights!

Los Angeles, CA So much more than just a Hollywood sign! Visit the Griffith Observatory. (It would be remiss not to also mention Universal Studios and nearby Disneyland!)

Well since we live in Atlanta and I was born in Seattle, have to say that yes, we've been to all of them.  If a family of a military member is able to accompany them overseas, take advantage!  From Seoul to Germany to Latin/South America, every place has its own "best spots"!  Of the cities above, I'd have to select San Antonio as my top pick.  But don't forget to fly into Las Vegas, catch one of the Cirque d'Soleil shows and leave for Utah and the Canyons - all of them!  Bryce, Grand, Zion and others.  At Bryce splurge a bit for a helicopter ride through the "hoodoos" - my daughter was 8 when we put her in the "co-pilot" seat and she put on the headphones and looked like those guys from the "Whirlybirds" TV show in the 60's (not so much like "Blue Thunder"!).  All the best to you all!

@Essayons Ed Thank you for sharing! We took a road trip through Utah last spring as a family and I agree it is a must see. We apparently will have t o go back for the helicopter ride!!

Thanks again for sharing!
