I am excited to welcome a guest blogger to the PCS section this week, Sandee Payne, military spouse and spokesperson for USAA's Home Circle. Not only is she sharing her moving expertise with USAA members, Sandee is the author of, "That Military House: Move it, Organize it & Decorate it", written to assist other military families with their many moves. I know I can learn a thing or two from Sandee, her family has had to move seven times in a ten year period!! Sandee also owns and operates an interior design and decorating firm in Harker Heights, Texas. Sandee was gracious enough to answer a few questions:

In your experience, what is your biggest PCS lesson learned? You can NEVER be too prepared for a PCS. Whether you consider yourself an expert organizer or a disheveled packrat...whether this is your first move or your twentieth...there are ALWAYS some things to improve upon in preparation for your next move.

I am always hesitant to buy new furniture and accessories for a new home, especially since I know it is not "permanent". How do you make the furniture and home accessories you already own work in a new home that is often bigger or smaller than your previous residence? Each time you make an addition to your existing decor and furnishings, try to make selections that co-coordinate. Always keep in mind that the chair you just bought for your bedroom may have to become part of a living room collection in a future move. Find one common color and make sure it is represented in every item you add in a variety of amounts, keeping the look cohesive.

In working with USAA, do you have any inside tips to help us utilize Home Circle for our next move? Make technology, your new best friend. USAA's Home Circle is available on-line at www.HomeCircle.com AND via mobile apps for your iPhone and Android. Take your next home buying process wherever you go. Search for houses and learn about nearby schools, restaurants and community activities all organized and accessible in one convenient location. And, by using USAA's MoversAdvantage real estate assistance program, USAA members can get up to $3,100 when they buy and sell their home. Who can't use that?

Thanks for all the great information Sandee! Please feel free to ask any questions you have about Sandee's experiences or USAA's Home Circle in the comments!

This book is HIGHLY recommended by me! :) There are some great tips in here that even an experienced PCS'r (is that a word?) can learn from!
