As often as my family changes addresses (for me it has been 5 in the past 7 years), I should be an expert. However, when we moved from Texas to California I assumed I had made all the necessary changes to our addresses but forgot the Amazon shipping address I normally used was not updated and sent all of our Christmas presents that year to our OLD address in Texas. MAJOR fail. Do not end up in a situation like me and have to explain to your spouse why we would be opening our presents after Christmas. Here is a simple list of all the places you should make sure to update with your new address after a move!
I also keep a document on my computer with a list of my previous addresses, (after so many they are hard to remember by heart) this is good to have for background checks and for your reference. It is also good to have a hard copy of this list in your PCS binder.
What have I missed? Do you have a lessons learned story (like mine) you can share in the comments?

This is very fustrating, when a man tries to change his address with USAA, and I keep getting blocked! The xxx xxxxxx computer thinks its smarter than me!
I have purchased homeowners insurance coverage with USAA... listed my new home address, physical, and mailing ... but the xxxxxx USAA computer keeps telling me there is no physical address like mine registered with the United States?!
Now how in the frick can I have a Street sighn with the street name on it 2 houses down, and a fire number sighn on my nlawn with property address on it . Both of these with same info I try to enter as my address, and USAA wont except it???? Why?
I am sure the matter of updating your address is a simple fix. I'll have an insurance specialist look at this right away. If needed, they'll call you to confirm everything.

Thanks for reminding this upset person that foul language is unacceptable. It's bad enough to hear such comments on the street much less to read it on a site that intends to help the person.
does it take time to for the change to process?
An address change is immediate; however, it will not re-base any insurance policies. Please contact us if an update is needed for policy coverage.
Why can I find every conceivable contact USAA has, EXCEPT a simple way to fill out a change of address. I find it hard to believe a company the size of USAA and the impermanent nature of many of its customeers, that it would be so seemingly unimportant to have a simple and functional way to do one task.
It is not our intention to make the process of updating an address difficult for you. Once logged on usaa.com you may update your address by selecting the drop down arrow by your name then "Profile & Preferences". An option will be available to update your address. Why does updating my profile not change my credit card's associated address? I called in recently and the lady sent me a new debit card. Nice, except the credit card is where my issue is.

I changed my address on my profile, but noticed that my USAA credit card address wasn't changed. I called and it was changed for me. But now I noticed that my check and savings accounts' addresses were not changed either. What did changing my profile address actually change?

Thanks for your help in changing my account addresses. That option ("Apply new Mailing Address for all Accounts/Products" was not available in the edit address section of the My Profile and Preferences section that I used on the usaa.com website.

Something so SIMPLE as changing MY ADDRESS is being made so difficult by this site! In the search area I put in "CHANGE ADDRESS". And what?!?! There is so SIMPLE answer!
1 Military Wifey, I'm sorry to hear of the frustration you've experienced with trying to change your address online. You'll need to click on your name at the top right-hand side of the page, and then select Profile & Preferences from the drop-down box. Once you're on the Profile and Preferences page, you should see a section that says Address Information with an option to Edit. Enter the new address and follow the prompts to save the changes. I tried to change my address online, but it does not find my address and will not allow me to update it. It is a new construction which is where I am sure the problem is coming from. How should I proceed or should I just call in to make the change? Please let me know.

I'm having the same frustration with address change. Somehow (I didn't do it), the mailing address on my car insurance was changed to my daughter's address. I've gone to my profile, and changed to the correct mailing address which is my PO Box, and got a notification that the address had been changed (the physical location was correct and stayed the same). So, all's good ... until the next bill, and it's STILL going to my daughter's address!! Tell me, does the computer have a left hand that needs to communicate with its right hand?
StLH2O, I regret any frustration caused by the change to your address. I've confirmed your address was changed back recently; however, the billing address for your insurance account was not updated. I've made the necessary updates. For your convenience you may view your recent billing statement online through "My Tools" then "View My Documents". Thank you. - Rhonda
Hi, I have a similar issue. I updated my mailing and physical address in my profile two weeks ago. But I haven't found an option to "Apply new Mailing Address for all Accounts/Products" and my classic checking account and savings account are stuck with my old address. Am I missing where they can be updated?

It is awfully hard to figure out how to change your address on the USAA website. At the very least, I'd recommend you include the link to the right page in the above checklist.

Why does all my addrfess have the correct address except my Debit card and there is no way for me to change to my current address?

It would be nice if USAA would actually update your addresses when you update your profile. My credit card address will not update no matter how many times I update my USAA profile. Same with our renter's and auto insurance. We had to make a separate phone call to change the address despite updating online AND calling and speaking to a representative who assured us that ALL our adresses would be update. When I sent a message to USAA to update my credit card address, they said I have to CALL to change it. This is absolutely ridiculous!! I've already update my address online AND called in May when we moved. I work for a living, I don't have time to call them M-F 8-5 because that's when I work. USAA needs to get their act together or we're out. There are so many other banks out there who have much better service.
The avenue to submit a change of address is not intuitive. Had I not reviewed the other comments I would not have found it under Profiles and Preferences. It didn't even appear in the search query results and that's both troubling and problematic. While it may be obvious to some inside the company, I recommend making it more prominent and using external customer feedback to redesign your website to ensure content is easily located. I'm sure you have metrics as to what terms are searched for the most and those should be addressed first.
I just moved and it’s telling me to “change my vehicle location.” Where do I do that? I can’t find it anywhere
@smquigs08, you can update the vehicle location by selecting your auto insurance from your accounts page, then scroll down and next to the vehicle click on edit vehicle location. You will then have the opportunity to select multiple vehicles. This "blog" is the top result when searching for "change address" on the USAA website. Pretty disappointing. To top it off, I don't see an actual link or description of where to go to change address in USAA. I guess I'll just start clicking around and hope to stumble on it.
Why do you make it so difficult to change my address, I seach for "change address" all I get are pdf docs for moving ,no links on actual changing my address. Why is this not coming up,? is it a big secret I am not to know about? Also I am finding even when I have changed my address, when I use my debit card, it still defaults to an old address years old? Please check into these issues.
@Southern Oregon Vet, Sorry it's been so frustrating! Here is all you need to do:
Click on your name in the upper right.
Go to Profile and Preferences.
Once there on the left side you will see Address Information and a spot that says Edit.
Follow the prompts from there and you should be good to go! ~Tom
I didn't find this article to be very useful. It merely said an obvious thing that I need to update my address with the bank, but didn't say where to do that on the USAA website. Now I have to go search the USAA website again for where that is done.
@tensorit, I regret your frustration in trying to update your address on usaa.com. To do so, log on the Website and on the top right corner you should see your name with a drop down menu. Then select "My Profile & Preference." The next screen would have the section to update your address. Once the address is updated, your bank accounts will be updated. Skimming through recent comments, I can see that USAA still has problems with address changes.
When I moved in 2008, the only thing USAA did was change the address on my home owner's policy.
I found out months later that my car was assumed to stay at my previous address.
USAA needs to coordinate address changes in all its software.
Users should not have to submit more than one address change form.
@Gauss, I certainly understand your concerns and appreciate you sharing you experience. Due to our membership base, changing the address across the board may pose some problems. Many times our members pcs, go on training, deploy, etc. and may only be changing the physical location and not the mailing address or vice versa.
