Spring Cleaning Tips

First, Spring takes an hour from us and now demands this time - where the weather is absolutely beautiful, the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming - is a time to clean!?

I have to admit, cleaning is NOT on the top of my to-do list. This is one of the first springs we have lived in one house long enough (and one that we own) for me to justify the rigmarole of spring cleaning. To be honest this will be my first bout of spring cleaning, historically, I just waited to do it right before we moved out! These cleaning tips are especially helpful if you are renting. Thoroughly cleaning is one of the keys to getting your security deposit back.

To help tackle this large task, check out some of these detailed spring cleaning checklists:

Also, consider using some homemade cleaning solutions when planning for your spring cleaning. I have been using homemade cleaners for a few months and they are just as effective, better for the environment and a lot cheaper!

1. Laundry detergent
2. Window cleaner
3. Cleaning with Vinegar
4. Hand Soap
5. Swiffer® pad alternatives (I do not sew, so I cut up an old towel and used that instead of the wet and dry pads. I dampen them with a one part vinegar and two parts water solution. Throw those towels in the wash after you use them!)

If homemade cleaners are not your thing, check your local dollar stores. They often carry the same cleaners you purchase at retail stores for much cheaper.

How do you tackle the sometimes daunting task of spring cleaning!? Please share your tips and tricks in this discussion!
