USAA Community Roadside Assistance FAQ.jpg

There are two types of drivers. One, like myself, who views the low fuel light on their dashboard as a friendly reminder and another like my husband who fills his tank even before the light has a chance to illuminate. I should have known that my rogue ways of testing how accurate my “miles until empty” car gauge performed would catch up with me…

In this post, we are taking a closer look at top questions in community regarding USAA’s Roadside Assistance. We hope this help you understand the service and provide information in the case you too have the need for some aid on the road.

Here are the services available with Roadside Assistance:

  • Changing flat tires.
  • Emergency gasoline delivery. (The price of gas isn't covered.)
  • Lost keys and lockouts. (The cost of the key isn't covered.)
  • Towing when stuck on or by a public roadway.
  • Towing disabled vehicle to the nearest repair facility.

How do I get Roadside Assistance?

Request roadside assistance online or call Agero, our roadside service provider, at 800-531-8555.

Outside the United States? Please call us using our international phone directory.

When you call, please have the following ready:

  • Your USAA number
  • Your location

What if I use a towing company of my own choosing?

If you use a provider that does not work with Agero then you can submit your receipt for review and reimbursement.

If you have already had services provided and need reimbursement, you can submit your claim online, use the USAA App on your mobile device, or call us at 210-531-USAA(8722).

If I needed to get gas for my car do I have to have money for it at the time or how does that work?

Roadside Assistance will pay for the fuel to be delivered to your location; however, it will not pay for the actual cost of the fuel.

No, I'm anticipating coverage for an upcoming trip. Whether RSA will apply or not to rental car abroad.

How do you sign up for roadside assistance. Is there an anual fee, how much?

Once signed up, how much does a tire change cost?

@rsa, Great question! Roadside Assistance is an optional endorsement added to your auto policy. The premium may vary, dependent on your specific policy. To determine if your policy has this or the cost to add it, please give us a call at 800-531-8722 or initiate a chat by selecting Help on usaa.com. Hope this helps :) ~Danielle

I am renting a Jeep in Maui, HI from Budget rental car utilizing USAA's corporate account number for members.  I will utilize my USAA visa credit card and intend to decline the daily insurance offered by Budget.  Will I be covered the same as if I drove my own car and is roadside assistance/towing included?  Does this cover loss of use charges by the rental car company?

Additional question.  I want to drive the entire Hana road.  It includes 7 miles of unpaved road which is traveled by tour buses.  In the Budget rental agreement they state the following, "vehicles are not permiteed to travel on unsafe or unpave roads".  If I drive over this unpaved section, will USAA Insurance and the credit card supplemental insurance cover accidents or road side assistance/towing?

@AieaJake, great questions and how exciting to be heading to Maui.  Good to see that you took advantage of USAA's benefits in renting your vehicle through our Membershop.   USAA auto policies provided the broadest coverage as shown on your Declaration page for a covered person's use of a nonowned vehicle and if you carry Physical Damage coverage, that coverage is extended to the borrowed/rented vehicle by the named insured or resident family member.  As for your additional question, may need to clarify the coverage through the rental agency as well as calling our claims department to see how that is handled in that unique situation.  Before driving over that unpaved road, please review your creditcard benefits by visiting www.usaa.com/cardbenefits or going to your credit card summary page and scrolling down to "Additional Services" and locating "Cardholder Benefits" found on the fourth column.  This will help answer any additional coverage questions as well as calling the number listed in the PDF to speak with a specialist about your credit card benefits.  Thank you for reaching out to us with your question and I hope you have a great time in Hawaii.  Send pics!  ~ Marco

It would be nice if you have a trifold brochure that covered Roadside Assistance.  What's covered, what's not, all the numbers, what to do.  Something that could be put in the glove comparment an there when you need it.  I was just on a chat with policy service and all they could do was resend my 28page auto policy.  That's not very helpful.
