A Day Rain Couldn't Spoil - USAA Member Community

Attendees walking in to attend the Heroes at Home at Home at Financial Education Event with Ellie Kay at Goodfellow AFB on March 9, 2016.

The world was coming to an end…or at least that’s what it seemed like as I drove my car from San Antonio up to San Angelo, Texas, the home of Goodfellow Air Force Base. Maybe it wasn’t the apocalypse, but the lighting, thunder and sheets of rain all had me questioning my travel plans that night.

Of course, the fact that I’m writing this is evidence that I made it to my destination and I’m really glad I did! It was my first opportunity to participate in one of the USAA-sponsored Heroes at Home financial education events. Ellie Kay and her amazing team created the tour as a way to promote financial readiness and say a big “thank you” to those that serve and their families. Budgeting, smart shopping, managing credit, saving, great prizes and lots of fun were all on the menu for the day.

I’m glad I was there and am looking forward to the next event, rain or shine. Check out the list of upcoming events list at the Heroes at Home Events Facebook page. I hope to see you there!
