Just received my first speeding ticket in over 25 years!

My streak of a clean driving record ended yesterday. Received a ticket for going 54 in a 45. On the Marylamd point system this will be 1 point added to my driver's license. I've been insured with USAA for about 5 years and have never submitted a claim or had any accidents. Does anybody know if USAA will raise my rates based on this one minor violation? Unfortunately MD doesn't offer the option of taking a driver improvement course in exchange for having the ticket dismissed. I will consider fighting the ticket if this will have a big impact on our insurance rates.

Hi there bmac66,

Sorry to hear about the ticket, what a stressful situation. From personal experience, I would recommend calling and speaking with one of our auto insurance specialists: 1-800-531-8733. They would be able to provide you with an accurate answer depending on your specific issue. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Best of luck!
