No matter if your student (or you) is headed back to elemementary school, middle school, high school or college, each has its set of unique challenges. USAA: You need to let parents (and students) know that 18 year olds going off to college are legal adults, and should have a will, healthcare advance directive (living will), a HIPAA release naming parents, a FERPA release naming parents, and a general power of attorney so that parents may take care of legal paperwork while the student is away at school.
