I'm currently active duty, would my civilian father be able to open an account to utilize services?

Below are the current requirements for benefits.  As it says there are some products they offer without military affiliation.  Give them a call and ask.

 

Today, USAA membership is open to U.S. military service members, veterans with an honorable discharge, and their eligible family members. We also offer some products to individuals with no military affiliation.

Who Can Join?
  • Active, retired and honorably discharged officers and enlisted personnel of the U.S. military
  • Cadets and midshipmen at U.S. service academies, in advanced ROTC or on ROTC scholarship, plus officer candidates within 24 months of commissioning
  • Individuals whose parents have or had USAA auto or property insurance
  • Former USAA members who had auto or property insurance
  • Widows, widowers and un-remarried former spouses of USAA membersSee note23  who had USAA auto or property insurance while married
