Dear USAA, this morning I read an article in the Washington Post titled: Lawmakers who objected to election results have been cut off from 20 of their 30 biggest corporate P.... As I scrolled through the article I came to a graphic showing which of those 30 companies had cut ties and which had not. I was surprised to see USAA listed and even more surprised, and most definitely disapointed, to see that USAA was among the ten largest corporate donors that had NOT YET cut ties to the 147 Republican lawmakers who objected to the results of the legitimate election of Joe Biden as our next President. I am a Navy veteran, and loyal 40 year USAA member. I understand that the majority of military personnel (both active and retired) are conservative and tend to vote Republican. I am disturbed though when loyalty to a political party is valued more than loyalty to country. As our great President, Theodore Roosevelt, said "Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president."
Christopher Krebs, Former United States Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and a life-long Republican, stated unequivocally that the 2020 election was the most secure in US History. For that he was fired by the petulant Donald Trump (which should come as no surprise to anyone) despite the fact that Mr. Krebs was highly regarded by both Republican and Democratic lawmakers. The New York Times called election officials in all 50 states and found no evidence of voter fraud The allegations of election fraud are baseless and have been debunked at every turn. The courts have rejected every pitiful attempt by the Trump administration to overturn valid electio.... That includes the US Supreme Court's rejection of Trump's baseless claims. The vortex of lies and disinformation that have characterized the last four years of the Trump administration have created a dangerous and delusional fantasy world in which white supremacists, racists, violent anti-government conspirators, anarchists and other fringe members of society have become emboldened and empowered by their soon-to-be former Commander in Chief. The culmination of this great "stolen election" lie was the seditious riot and attempted overthrow of our government on January 6 of this year. After the terrible events of that day 147 Republican lawmakers had the temerity to stand in unison and reject the results of a free and fair election. Their actions, while a dismal failure, were motivated purely by politics and selfishness; Senators Cruz and Hawley jockying for their 2024 presidentail runs. They know better. They know the truth. Their disgusting anti-patriotism has only served to further the lie. Instead they should be working to repair the great damage that they and their leaders (Trump, McConnell, Graham, Nunes, McCarthy, etc.) have done to our nation and their own political party. Their actions have further divided an already fractured nation in the midst of a great pandemic. USAA should not have even one moment of hesitation in cutting ties with these politicians. Please, show some courage, make a statement, and end any association with these 147 scoundrels. Thank you!

Dear Wayne Peacock,
I have been a member of USAA for over 50 years, through my father, John T. Carlton, who served in WW II. My parents praised your company, encouraging me to sign up as a young adult. My experiences with any claims filed have been professional and satisfying. When my son came of age, the first credit card I helped him get was a USAA credit card. At that time, I was impressed with USAA’s practice of easing young people into financial responsibility.
However, I am horrified to learn that USAA continues to fund the US lawmakers who voted not to certify the election of Joe Biden as President of the United States, those 147 now referred to as the Sedition Caucus. Please tell me this is not true. If true, please stop immediately. If you continue to fund the Sedition Caucus, you make yourselves complicit in the attempted coup to overturn our Democracy.
To quote President Theodore Roosevelt, “Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president.” Please be true patriots and end any association with these 147 scoundrels. If you don’t, I will consider ending my association with USAA.
Sincerely yours,
Alice Carlton

Any updates to this?
30+ year member, dad was an officer in the USMC, and as of June 2020, another statistic--Veteran suicide.
I chose another financial institution for my auto loan, and am looking into auto insurance and contents insurance options that are genuinely patriotic, not funding the Sedition Caucus.
It is a slap in the face to veterans who took the Oath to lay down their life in defense of the Constitution when USAA uses the dollars of veterans to support government representatives who refuse to take the same Oath seriously. Their claims of voter fraud to disenfranchise the will of the people is a direct attack on the heart of our democracy. It is also a slap in the face to veterans when USAA chooses to support anti-Constitutional propaganda mis-leading the American People. Stop supporting those Republicans who voted against certification and stop advertising on Fox shows pushing the big lie.
Agree with this post. As a 37 year member of USAA and Navy Veteran I was disappointed to see USAA supporting many lawmakers who continue to support the "Big Lie" and have worked to divide our nation. In addtion, USAA advertising on Fox News - a poisonous mouthpiece of sedition and derision in our country - should be halted as well.
I have been a member since 1976, and my six siblings are all members. Not only should USAA not give to lawmakers who flaunt our laws and constitution, USAA should not advertise on Fox, where Tucker Carlson referred to General Milley as a pig, and another anchor called for defunding the military.
I don't get it, when a Republican sen/rep objects to an election result they are evil, but when a Democrat does it it's Ok. It's just politics people! Take a deep breath.
fully agree with this member. I for one am no longer a republican, i refuse to support the party of Mcarthy. communists or confindence men (persons) there is no difference. they are out for themselves only.
1/24/21 - Agree wholeheartedly. I spent a full hour last week trying to find a way to send a message to USAA Board of Directors and Executive Council to request same as this message.... to pull support for lawmakers who voted to overturn the Electoral College certification. Was looking for an email address or other forum to post... now finally find this. I am a USAF veteran, >40 year member of USAA, and was disgusted to see USAA listed as a company "still considering" their stand on this issue. To ignore the findings of multiple courts and the DOJ is to turn a blind eye to a reprehensible act, based entirely on a lie fomented by foes of our Constitution. Show some courage, USAA directors. Be brave and do the right thing. This company, representing military members and veterans, has a higher bar to meet for moral courage. Thank you.
@KateC100, I will be forwarding your message to this area for review and appreciate your time. ~ Joseph
Joeseph, is there a response? I, too, am thinking of ending, or drastically reducing, my 40ish year relationship with USAA.
Just caught up with this fact. I am at 40+ year member of USAA and I have been proud of my association with you and proud to be a member. Today, I am not. I am so dissapointed to see this lack of moral backbone. You are BIG, successful, and well regarded. You don't need the support of Congressional members who are acting so depraved and indifferent to our Democracy. Maybe you should consider moving your headquarters out of Texas where you are obviously being influenced by their rank politics.
