It’s bad enough that USAA continues to support elected officials who have violated their oath by subverting a lawful election.

But USAA also continues to advertise on so-called “news” programs that have perpetuated the Big Lie that led to the Jan. 6 sedition.

When USAA resumed advertising on Fox News in 2017, its justification included this statement: “Today, the lines between news and editorial are increasingly blurred.”

That’s self-serving nonsense. Facts are still facts. And there was nothing blurry about the armed attack on the U.S. Capitol. That attack, with the intention of overturning an election that dozens of courts have ruled was fair, is antithetical to the oath every one of us took in the first place.

Furthermore, while COVID-19 was killing more than half a million Americans, Fox News was energetically downplaying its severity.

And while the Pentagon under both Republican and Democratic presidents has labeled climate change a threat to national security, Fox News has dismissed the science behind that as well.

As a corporate citizen as well as an organization devoted to serving the military, USAA disgraces itself and its members with every dollar it gives to enemies of the United States, including domestic enemies.

The fact that those enemies have a large following is even more reason to cut them off, not support them. Leaders lead.
