I was at Home Depot and payed with my USAA debit card. The clerk looked at the card and ask me if I was in the military. I told her that I was a vet and got 10% off. Thanks to the hi visibility of USAA ties with military personal, I learned that Home Depot gives 10% off to the military.

This was true immediately following 9-11 for a few years. Recently though, Home Depot and Lowes have restricted their Military Discounts to only folks with A Valid Military ID Card or a VA Picture ID Card. They open up the Military Discount to all Veterans on Veterans Day with your DD214 in hand. I use my VA Card all the time without a problem.
