My grandfather was Maj. Joe Tafolla, one of the first Latino officers in the US Army.  He was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, and is buried at the Military Cemetery there.  He served in WWI and WWII.  My mother is still a member, as am I.  My now-deceased father, Maj.(R) James R. Ballard, was a member.  So is my brother, Maj. (R) James Brent Ballard.  His adult children are also members!  Furthermore, my spouse is a member via her father, who served on the USS Bunker Hill in WWII.  We love how you have taken care of our families for decades.  We love how you encompass all service members regardless of race, gender, or loving orientation.  THANK YOU, USAA!

Sincerely,

Karol Ballard
