On graduating from the Naval Academy and receiving my USAF commission in 1953, I needed a car but had no money in the bank and no established credit. USAA loaned me the money based on my future potential (as it did to any graduate who requested the same) and insured the car as well. I've been a USAA member for 57 years now. My children and grandchildren are all members, too.
