I was fresh out of college and a shiny new Lt. headed for pilot training in 1961 and was told of USAA by the Colonel who was my mentor in AFROTC. I have been a member ever since, and I am grateful to have been affiliated with USAA given the service that they have provided with out fail over the 49 years since. While raising a family of three, two boys, you can only imagine how often I was obliged to call THAT number. They never failed me, although I was nearly on a first name basis for a period of time.
