I was just Commissioned (Oct 68) and just married (Dec 68). We splurged on a dealer demo VW for $1,500.00. The NJ Allstate agent said they had special deals for those serving our country in the military. I had had insurance for my old car while going to school in DC with GEICO. The special deal from Allstate was a rejection letter while we came when we were on our honeymoon.In NJ at the time an rejection put you automatically in the assigned risk pool which cost over $1,000.00 per year. Neither of us had ever had an accident or ticket. Our good luck was friends at Dam Neck in VA who recommended USAA. Been a proud, happy member since 1969.
