Hello, @jknoxg! Thank you for bringing your inquiry to the USAA Community. I would certainly be happy to inform you on the process of adding an operator to your policy.

The first bit of information would be the acceptable operator guidelines. Who can be added?

  • A person who has a learner's permit or driver's license
  • AND is a family member of the named insured (by blood, marriage, cohabitation, or adoption)
  • OR a resident of the named insured's primary residence who has access to regular use of the vehicles

The second bit of information would be how to add the operator. How do I add them? There are a few different options.

  • First, the self-service option on USAA.com is always available. You may log into the site, click on Auto Insurance Policy, followed by Add a Driver (or Operator). Then add in the information which the system is requesting.
  • Second, you can chat on the site by logging in and clicking on the HELP tab in the upper right corner of the page.
  • Third, you may dial 800-531-8722 to speak with one of our specialists about adding an operator.

Please, let us know if we can be of any further assistance to you with this matter. Thank you for your membership! ~ Steven
