It used to be that you signed up for health benefits once a year, and that was the only time you were concerned about health costs. But the health industry is changing quickly, and these changes are affecting USAA members in new and confusing ways.
That’s why we launched the USAA Health Insurance Marketplace. It’s an online source for guidance and solutions, and it can help you understand your choices and make decisions to fit your needs.
The marketplace starts with guidance and a new health education page, with actionable steps to take based on your military status. It has new choices to learn more about and shop for Medicare, dental and vision products for you and your family. Our licensed representatives can walk you through your choices on the phone.
We’re not new to the health space. For more than 25 years, we have been offering Medicare solutions to help our members protect their savings from high health care costs. And there’s more to come. We’ll soon be launching a new health cost tool that will help you estimate your total health expenses in retirement as well as your annual expenses if you are still in your working years. We’ve configured the tool to reflect military benefits you and your spouse may receive. And we’re launching accidental injury insurance soon, to cover the out-of-pocket expenses — not just your medical expenses — caused by an accident.
You may be wondering why USAA is getting more involved in the health space. Seventy-five percent of our members believe that health costs threaten their financial security. Expanding our product and advice portfolio is another way USAA can build on its mission to facilitate the financial security of our members by providing a full range of products and services.

Medicare and Health Insurance solutions provided by USAA Life Insurance Company, San Antonio, TX and by USAA Life General Agency, Inc. (LGA) (known in CA and NY as USAA Health and Life Insurance Agency), which acts as an agent for select insurance companies to provide products to USAA members. LGA representatives are salaried and receive no commissions. However, LGA receives compensation from those companies, which may be based on the total quantity and quality of insurance coverage purchased through LGA. Plans not available in all states. Each company has sole financial responsibility for its own products.
