USAA is working with members to help them drive safer by expanding the SafePilot™ 2.0 mobile app to 31 out of 50 states.

When Michael R., a USAA employee insurance professional – sales and service, lost his son six years ago in a fatal car accident, safe driving wasn't as big a focus as it is today. Now, USAA is working with members to help them drive safer by expanding the SafePilot™ 2.0 mobile app to 31 out of 50 states. All in hopes to decrease devastating car accidents.

“That tragedy changed the way I felt about driver safety and safety features – it changed life as a whole for me and our family," says Michael. “Things could have been a lot different if safety features were in place back then like we have now."

Victoria V., USAA development product owner senior, says she had always considered herself a safe driver, but learned about new ways to keep herself safe after using the app.

“I didn't think there would be much added benefit other than the discount, but after that first report, I saw there was definitely room to improve," says Victoria. “I would say the app is for everyone looking to monitor their driving and keep those in the vehicle, and out of the vehicle, safe."

Randy T., USAA SVP, general manager – auto, says he and his wife Lysa are avid users of the SafePilot™ app and have noticed their driving habits become safer over time.

“SafePilot™ has really helped me pay attention to my driving and learn new ways to be my best behind the wheel," explains Lysa.
