Usage of Hurricane Tie Downs (vs toe nailed) and Insurance Discount?

We're in Central Texas where Hurricane Tie Downs are not required. Our builder has not installed. But they will for additional cost.

Question 1: Does USAA offer any sort of discount or incentive of building with tie downs?

Question 2: Any insurance adjusters or inspectors out there that could comment on how effective installing ties on every 'other' (roughly half) rafter to top plate would be vs every single rafter? (custom house - it's a surprisingly expensive upgrade involving many hundreds of rafters)

Hi trhao. Great question! As of now, we don't provide any additional savings for tie downs vs toe nailed. In TX, we do provide savings for roof age and impact resistant roofs (class 3 or 4). -Rachael
