I have bee a member with USAA for almost 20 years, in the last 2 months I have been disappointed and misinformed by USAA on numerous occasions.  Initially I got a pre-approval letter with USAA but was not informed that a new system was being installed and nothing could be done within my state for an entire month, so scratch getting a mortgage with USAA.  Once I got pre-approved with another company and put in an offer, I called USAA to confirm they could write a homeowners policy on my house, disclosing some items that were of concern and might be a problem for getting a policy.  I was advised that getting a policy with these conditions would be "no problem" and "we write on houses with these issues an a regular basis". Now that it is 2 weeks until closing I called to get my policy set up and have been informed that a policy cannot be written on my home, so scratch getting homeowners insurance with USAA.  I am completely disappointed with USAA and the lack of service and consistency I have received in the past 2 months.
