I want to call usaa and try to get pre-approved or pre-qualified but I've never done it before so I had a few questions I was hoping someone could answer for me :)

I was wondering what kind of questions they ask? Like what information I'll need to make sure I have ready to answer anything... I do not have a very large annual income so I'm not sure if I can qualify so I was wondering if anyone could give me any type of idea as to what a good annual income is?

My dad will also be coming with me (he's older and can't reall be on his own), he gets disability and social secruity so could his annual income count with mine to help?

I'm only 23 but I have excellent credit and I'm really hoping to be able to move into a nicer home for us!

Thank you for any help!!

Dear Loren7692,

What an exciting time for you! Looking for a new home can be a really fun experience.

Thank you for your question on pre-qualification on a mortgage loan. There is some general guidance you can read here https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/bank_loan_mortgage_guide . But if you would like some personal advice, a mortgage specialist would be glad to walk you through the whole process! They can be reached at: 1-800-531-USAA (8722)

Best of luck on your home buying journey!

All lenders will generally ask the same questions.  If this is your first house buying experience, read the experiences of others on this forum.  You will see the USAA mortgage department is not as highly regarded as the insurance products.

You may want to contact a local bank or credit union for your mortgage needs.
