USAA is estimating $5900 in transfer taxes. I am stressed and tired of explaining that Maryland excempts FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS on taxes and that the seller is going 50/50. Furthermore, taxes on the property we are looking at are 1900 a year. Their estimate equals almost 600k NOT 270k. Should I go with Veterans United instead?

Yes - Read the posts about USAA mortgages and NationStar.  Been there, been frustrated.
