Home Loan (VA) for Independent Contractor

I am an independent contractor (Lyft driver) for 2+ years.  Fairway mortgage says can't get a loan because my AGI is close to $0.00.  But my gross income is $38,000+.  Is there any loan company that can look past the AGI to the gross income and give you a VA loan?
