Nick69,

We want to help you! One of the first things we recommend is, that if you are ready to start shopping for a home, you get prequalified. You can complete a prequalification online or by calling a mortgage specialist at 210-531-USAA (8722). If you need assistance in locating a home, we can help with the referral of a real estate agent with the use of our Real Estate Rewards program. Our mortgage team will assist you every step of the way with the home buying process. Please search Prequalification on usaa.com or contact one of our mortgage specialists at the number provided above. Good luck! -Gus

More concern is if I apply for prequalified, this will affect my score. Which would cause it to drop and influence having to wait another six months to try again.

naynay2,

Thank you for reaching out in the Community. I realize the process to buy a home can be intimidating. USAA offers support to our members through every step of the process. We can start by placing you in contact with a local real estate agent and offering prequalification to get your shopping started. If you would like to discuss your options and services USAA offers, please contact us at 210-531-USAA (8722). Thank you. -Gus

DO NOT use USAA for a VA loan!!! A loan period. It will be pawned off to nationstar , an F rated debt collection agency! An you will have no recourse!
