I executed a deed-in-lieu last year due to relocation and divorce. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if I have lost all of my VA eligibility and when I could possibly be able to purchase a home in the future. How will I know when I can start looking into it again? Any help would be appreciated.
Chuckit,
Becuase getting an answer will require more personal details, a service specialist would be in the best position to address your questiosn about the timing on a VA loan. I can only speak from my own experience, I executed a deed in lieu also when I was divorced and my ex-wife of course never made a payment and the home was foreclosed on. It came up on my credit and I had to fight to get it removed and into her report. I much later down the road (about 8 years) was surprised to find out that I still had some eligibility left, evidently whatever the VA lost on the original loan was subtracted. I still had over $100K and that really helped. Take my advice and look elsewhere from USAA. It's the only thing I've seen that they are terrible at. Good luck!
