The Youngest Military Service Celebrates Another Year of Great Contributions

In celebration of this year’s U.S. Air Force Birthday on 9/18/2019, we have a 100% video look at important USAF missions from during the year.


From logistics to drones to foreign force training to innovation concepts to receiving the remains of servicemembers killed overseas, the USAF demonstrates every hour of every day that being great today is never enough – the USAF must be even greater in the future.


Here are 12 videos that highlight the amazing capabilities of the U.S. Air Force during the past year:


  1. USAF Special Tactics Conduct High Angle Rope Skills with Coalition Forces during Eager Lion 2019. Cyprus National Guard Special Forces and Lebanese Special Forces Regiment 5 conduct high angle rope skills training with U.S. Air Force Special Tactics Operators during exercise Eager Lion 2019 in the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, August 27, 2019.

  2. Refueling F-15E Strike Eagles. A KC-135 Stratotanker Aircrew from the 28th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron refuels U.S. F-15E Strike Eagles, August 9, 2019 over an undisclosed location. The 28th EARS maintains a 24/7 presence in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, supporting U.S. and coalition aircraft in various operations in countries such as Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

  3. MQ-9 Reapers landing at Holloman Air Force Base. MQ-9 Reapers land at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., on February 6, 2019.

  4. 916th ARW Refuels the Blue Angels. The 77th Air Refueling Squadron of the 916th Air Refueling Wing flew north near Loring Air Force Base, Maine to refuel the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Aug. 26. The two-ship formation of KC-135s delivered nearly 60,000 pounds of fuel to the team before continuing north to an airshow in Greenwood, Canada.

  5. Army Sgt. James G. Johnston - Dignified Transfer. A U.S. Army carry team transfers the remains of Sgt. James G. Johnston of Trumansburg, N.Y., during a dignified transfer June 28, 2019, at Dover Air Force Base, Del. Johnston was assigned to 79th Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 71st Ordnance Group, Fort Hood, Texas.

  6. AEHF-5 Launch into orbit. AEHF-5 Satellite launch into orbit to join the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) constellation orbiting the Earth. AEHF constellation provides highly secure, jam-proof communications between US National Leadership and deployed military forces.

  7. 774th EAS Conducts Air Drops Across Afghanistan. Airmen from the 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron conduct an air drop over Afghanistan aboard a C-130J Super Hercules, Aug. 9, 2019. Air drops are used to bring vital supplies to troops in otherwise unreachable, austere locations.

  8. Hurricane Hunters fly Dorian. The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, an Air Force Reserve unit located at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi., gathered weather information during a mission into Hurricane Dorian Aug. 31, 2019. The data they gather is used by the National Hurricane Center for their forecasts.

  9. Operation Rapid Forge culminated with F-35s and F-15s refueling in Estonia. U.S. Air Force Special Tactics Operators assess, secure, open and secure airspace for a forward arming and refueling point mission from an MC-130J Commando II to two F-35A Lightening IIs and two F-15E Strike Eagles during Operation Rapid Forge at Ämari Air Base, Estonia, July 25, 2019. Special Tactics is a U.S. Special Operation Command's tactical air and ground integration force, and the Air Force's special operations ground force, leading Global Access, Precision Strike, Personnel Recovery and Battlefield Surgery operations on the battlefield.

  10. 12th Air Force (AFSOUTH) Mission Video 2019. 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) is responsible for two equally important missions. As part of Air Combat Command, 12th Air Force (AFSOUTH) organizes, trains and equips Airmen under its command for worldwide deployment. 12th Air Force also serves as the air and space component to U.S. Southern Command, working with partner nations in the region in order to support operations in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

  11. Pilots sharpen survival skills with SERE during RED FLAG-Alaska 19-3. Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape during RED FLAG-Alaska 19-3.

  12. C-130 Night Vision Flight and Landing B-roll. A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules flies’ cargo and passengers to an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Aug 4, 2019. C-130s operate around the clock to transport equipment, supplies and passengers around the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.


My favorite video is the USAF refueling the Blue Angels. Even for the U.S. Navy’s elite Air Demonstration Team, The Blue Angels, the USAF is an integral part of their success!
