Our 17 y/o just used his savings account to purchase his car. Would it be best to switch youth savings to youth checking so he can pay for his own gas etc without exceeding the 6 withdrawal limit and fees? We have never given him an ATM card as he was working toward the vehicle. Our children are responsible for buying their vehicles and paying insurance and gas/upkeep.

@CO parents, Congratulations to your son on purchasing a car! I believe it would be wise to convert his savings account to a checking account due to the limited transactions allowed for savings accounts. With a checking account, we could issue a debit card that your son could use for insurance payments and gas/upkeep. Please call us at 210-531-8722 or chat with us to convert the account. From the USAA website, you can chat with us by selecting "Reach a Representative", "Contact USAA" or "Ask USAA". From the USAA Mobile App, you can select "Help" and then "Get Contact Options". ~DC
