Can anybody tell me y it takes so long to deposit money in the account?

I have been using mobile deposit(taking pictures of chks) for some 8 yrs with no problem. Checks over $5k ( the first 5 avail immediately) are held for a couple of days. That has never been a problem for me.

Todabooks (and Others);

1. Using the USAA Mobile App to deposit checks is ok for small checks which may get credited immediately to your checking account. However for LARGE CHECKS it is best to use USAA Easy Deposit.

2. You (and others) should note that USAA has teamed up with The UPS Store to make it easier for you to deposit a check into your USAA checking or savings account. USAA Easy Deposit is available at select locations of The UPS Store nationwide. Visit the following LINKS for more information.

UPS & USAA Bank for large deposits

I hopes this helps you.

I find easy deposit is anything but. Lot of UPS places have broken machines or have no idea what to do.

It seems something has changed recently. I have made mobile deposits with ease for months and now my deposit of $100 is on hold. The confusing part, the funds have already been withdrawn from the bank account the deposited check is drawn on. I could understand if there was delay pulling the funds from the other financial institution but that isn't the case. Why is it, that mobile deposit made on Mar 31, is slated to be on hold until Apr 9?

Here is a quote from the USAA Deposit@Home® FAQ found here.

When will my deposited funds be available for use?

Deposits made using USAA Deposit@Home are subject to the USAA Depository Agreement (PDF) and may not be available for immediate withdrawal. No deposit is complete until we process it and collect the funds.

**NOTE: The "hold time" is a guesstimate availablity date by USAA based upon common transaction processing times. Your deposit may become available sooner than the date provided by USAA.

Hope this helps.

Since you are asking an account specific question,  I encourage you to contact a member representative using the CONTACT US button on or by calling 1-800-531-8722. They are more equipped to answer your mobile deposit question. Thank you

Some definitely has changed, I made 4 deposits totaling a little more than 600 this weekend and its is telling me my funds are on hold until 4/17.  Thats 10 days! When I questioned it by email I was told Easy Deposit would produce the same result.  I have tried multiple times to get through on the phone now as well and after spending nearlyan hour total on hold I gave up.  I have bill that are going to hit my account and no way to get the (cleared) funds into my account short of taking a day off from work to drive 90 minutes into Baltimore to make a deposit of checks and cash.  I can't get an explanation from anyone as to why either.

Since it seems that the phone was not a viable option for you, perhaps the link above can help - or you can use the online "contact us" form on at the top right.

Tara- I spent nearly 3 1/2 hours yesterday getting absolutely nowhere with the chat specialist and with a representative when I finally got thru on the phone.  Information provided contradicted other things I had been told, in addition the chat specialist sent me on a wild goose chase to multiple ATMs in my area insisting that they took cash deposits when in fact (as I told him previously) they did not.  In the meantime, the payment was returned unpaid and a check for another bill will certainly be getting presented in the next 24-48 hrs.  This is inexcusable.  To finally add insult to injury, yesterday after spendong nearly 90 minutes on the phone with the rep only to be told she couldn't even transfer me, I stopped to get gas on my way home and despite having enough for gas, my card was declined with a "Call Issuer" message.  I am at the end of my rope.
