I started an account with USAA around six months ago, I also have an account with wells Fargo. With wells Fargo I ended up in a situation that put my account -$70, yet when I deposited mmy paycheck it subtracted the $70 and left the rest for me the instant I deposited the money. Yet with USAA I went negative less than one dollar and when I deposited my pay check it put all of it on hold for over a week. The fact that I went negative less than a dollar(which by the way was the first time I had gone negative with USAA) caused two paychecks to go on hold for more than a week at a time. That's what USAA calls amazing service.

I have already spoken with a banking specialist about the situation and she said the same thing a representative said. They told me there was nothing they could do and the only way I could have my deposited checks not be put on hold would be to set u a direct deposit. The place i work at requires a physical check, they wont just accept an account and routing number and USAA is an online bank which means I can't just go to the bank and get a void check I have to print one out and I don't have a printer, so I have to go to the local library to print a void check which costs money that I can't get to. Along with that the place I work at doesn't have a fax machine. So I'm pretty much stuck until the hold is up.

You need to talk with a financial manager about how to manage and improve your finances.  Until you can get that under control, you will continue to have issues like these.  USAA has some great financial advisers, or you can use a local Consumer Credit Counseling Service.

Check out www.youneedabudget.com.  When your funds are so tight that you overdraw your account (by any amount), you really need to get to know where your money is, and more importantly, how are you going to manage your money to avoid future overdraws.  YNAB encourages users to decide what to do with their available funds down to the last dollar.

YNAB gives away a copy of their software at the end of every free online class and it's completely free for enrolled college students, so for at least a month you can work on your budget the YNAB way without spending a dime, let along a dollar.  For those not in college or lucky enough to win a copy after taking an online YNAB class, there are YNAB referral codes from other YNAB users for a discount and there are sales at Steam.  


I know this sounds so very advertisement like, but I'm just a happy YNAB user who thinks YNAB is the greatest financial management system I've ever tried.
