I got low on funds and put $385 in my account. AFTER I put the funds in my account I was told that since I had gone to insufficient funds they would be holding any checks that were deposited for the maximum time possible. How in the world does this make sense. I have been a good customer for many years and recently have had some financial difficulty. When I need my bank to HELP me, they screw me and leave me to fend for myself and could care less if I starve to death with them holding the money I earned.
Now I am told that my regular paycheck could be subject to hold also. I am going to have to switch banks because I cannot eat air and I certainly cannot eat if they have frozen every cent I have in this world. I used to tell everyone I met what a great bank I have. You can rest assured I will not be saying that again. I am starving to death and haven't eaten in 2 days because all of my money is frozen and it looks as though it will be at least 3 or 4 more days before I can eat and maybe longer. I am having to sleep in my car at work because I can't buy gas to go back and forth and if my employer finds out I will be fired. I can't believe the time I need help is when I am turned on by the people I have trusted for 15 years plus with my money. Help I'm hungry and hurt beyond repair !!!!!!
1. First of all lets set things straight. When you say in your post "I got low on funds..." what I think you really meant to say was "I accidently overdrew my checking account...".
2. USAA's Policy on DEPOSITS is very clear. Here are some quotes from two Frequently Asked Questions:
Deposit@Home FAQ - When will my deposited funds be available for use?
Deposits made using USAA Deposit@Home are subject to the USAA Depository Agreement (PDF) and may not be available for immediate withdrawal. No deposit is complete until we process it and collect the funds.
USAA Easy Deposit (using The UPS Store) FAQ - When will my deposited funds be available for use?
USAA Easy Deposit is a remote deposit capture service. All USAA Easy Deposit items are subject to a hold and may not be available for immediate withdrawal. Items transmitted using this service are not subject to the funds availability requirements of Federal Reserve Board Regulation CC. Funds deposited using this service will be available after USAA receives payment for the funds submitted. USAA may make such funds available sooner based on such factors as credit worthiness, the length and extent of your relationship with us, transactions and experience information, and such other factors as USAA, in its sole discretion, deems relevant. Refer to the USAA Depository Agreement (PDF) for further information.
So as you can see USAA puts a hold on ALL CHECK DEPOSITS until PAYMENT IS IS RECEIVED from the bank that the check is drawn on, even if the account the check is linked to has "millions of dollars".
Also, you can see that USAA may deposit your funds SOONER if you meet certain "requirements".
