I want my son's debit card to be denied at the point of sale if he has insufficient funds in his checking account. I was told that my only options are either to add overdraft protection or to have him incur overdraft charges.... is it really true that we have no option to simply have the card denied at the point of sale? Given some of the posts in the chat rooms, some of the folks seem to have had their cards denied (they were not happy with that but it is exactly what i am looking to have happen...).
If the card is a debit card and there are not sufficient funds, then it should not process. I have never had an experience where it has. If there is not credit there, and there is no overdraft protection then it should not allow the charge.
