Check descriptions cannot be changed from "check"

It is enormously unhelpful that most of my electronic fund transfers are labelled "check" and that there's no way for me to change those labels. How on earth am I supposed to "search by description" to figure out which subscriptions or charities or taxes I've sent money to?


I was told that USAA would get these bugs sorted out by January. Please find a way to allow us to change the descriptions and categories for checks on the regular desktop interface.


@Librarychick, thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. You can change the category from "check" to "Transfer" on the USAA mobile app or online. Select the transfer you completed, click on Category. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance. Tricia

As far as I can tell, your solution--changing the word "check" to the word "transfer"--doesn't actually address the problem. When I refer to "electronic funds transfer," I mean checks that USAA has sent directly to my payees. So, when I have a check sent from USAA to a charity, for example, the entry for that cleared check does not include the name of the charity and the category for that check cannot be changed to charity. If you could give me more precise instructions on how to customize my check descriptors, I'd be most appreciative.

Don't worry, I chatted with Joel Tuesday night and he told me the missing features, that we had last week in the "OLD" software will be back by 2022.  This Update is actually a Backdate and is horrendous, unacceptable, and a slap in the face to IT Professionals and USAA customers.

Thanks for the comment Jason, BUT I have heard NOTHING from USAA about my mulyiple calls and Feedback submissions and it's been a month.
