Many military families will soon be experiencing the summer PCS or moving season. If you’re a military spouse, that may also mean looking for new employment. Our family PCS’d three times in six years and each time the job search required a creative approach. With this in mind, using unique resources and building a local network was necessary to land the desired position.
One free resource available to all military spouses (active duty, veteran, reserve, Guard, and/or Gold Star), service members and veterans in the greater San Antonio, Texas area, is the Hiring Our Heroes, Military Spouse Networking Reception at USAA HQ on May 8th.
Attendees will have the opportunity to spend the evening connecting directly with many HR experts. These experts will be available to you for feedback, expertise and advice on getting a job. From a networking perspective, hiring managers from dozens of local and national companies will be present to share what they are looking for in a candidate. USAA will also have Talent Scouts onsite to meet and answer your questions. If you want more hands-on feedback, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from mentors, practice your interview skills in a friendly environment and receive resume guidance. Or, simply network with other military spouses.
If your digital resume needs an update, those who attend will receive a complimentary professional LinkedIn profile photo.
