Spring Forward

"Many of life's failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." - Thomas Edison

Life during a deployment draws us closer to our friends on the homefront, to our family and in some ways closer to our spouse. We are reminded it is the little things that matter most and we cherish every communication we have with our loved one. It's also a time we can set new goals and new routines.

With the arrival of spring, many of us are cleaning out closets and cupboards. Our lawns are getting makeovers and if we haven't already had Spring Break, it is soon to be arriving. Spring Break gives us a break from the normal routine, a chance for rest, relaxation and some much needed FUN. This time of year also gives us the opportunity to clean out the clutter in our lives. To set new goals or re-engage with the ones we set at the beginning of the New Year.

This month, I'll introduce you to Krista Wells, PhD., The Military Spouse Coach™. I'm participating in her "De-clutter Challenge" and will be sharing my experience. Change is never easy, however I'm going into this new experience ready to put in the extra effort.

De-cluttering can apply not only to your pantry and the back seat of your car, but also your volunteer activities, your DVR and even your Facebook friends list.

Spending that extra one-minute or ten minutes on a task, in other words, expending that extra effort can create momentum, progress, clarity and eventually change.

It can create a new routine.

It can create a new lifestyle.

It can create success!

So join me this next month as we step off on a new foot, and tackle new challenges.

What have you been meaning to declutter? How will taking action make you feel? Write down what's at stake. Also, write down some action steps, and get lets going!! Let me know what you are working to declutter this week.

This article was great motivation! I just finished my closet! It felt fabulous! I tend to hang onto things and it has come to the point where I know NO ONE would appreciate me wearing the same things I did in college... So I contacted a local consignment shop in the are who would love my old items, plus maybe I'll make a buck or two, which makes me feel less guilty about getting rid of the items!

I started de cluttering our garage. The old kitchenwares, old clothes I gave it away to the Goodwill. Some of the clothes and furnitures that I thought I can earn money I post it on craigslist and earn few bucks. I used the money for groceries and it actually save us a couple of hundreds. Great post. keep it up :)

honeylaylanahla, Wow, you are doing great! Glad to hear this post helped make a difference in your decluttering. Getting started is always the hardest for me, but after I get going and I start to see results it makes me feel like I have really accomplished something! Please let me know if there are any topics you'd like me to write about!

Briana, What a great idea to take items to a consignment shop. This is an awesome option to get more money back from a purchase instead of haggling over price at a garage sale!
