There are many conferences that take place throughout the year that feature tracks or sessions targeted towards military family support. There are two coming up this month, the AUSA (Association of the United States Army) Annual Meeting & Exposition and the Joint Spouses' Conference in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. These conferences and others like them offer unique opportunities to get updates on current programs, build strategies to live this military life, and network with other spouses.

The next AUSA Annual Meeting will take place October 22-24, 2012 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. It is held in conjunction with the Army Ten-Miler race. "AUSA offers specialized programs and exhibitions for soldiers of all ranks - active, National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve, Department of the Army civilians, retirees, veterans, civilians, military academy and ROTC cadets, family members and the men and women who work in the defense industry." The 2011 Annual Meeting experienced a "record-breaking attendance of over 36,000 attendees...had more than 500 military and industry exhibits occupying three city blocks - and, for the first time, the entire Walter E. Washington Convention Center." Part of the AUSA annual meeting also features the Military Family Forums.

"The purpose of AUSA's Military Family Forum's is to allow Army senior leaders and experts in the field of family readiness provide their views on the status of the Army Family. Through the presentations provided during the four forums speakers will have direct discourse with the attendees who will consist of Soldiers and family members, senior spouses, family readiness group leaders, family programs managers as well as representatives from other organizations involved in supporting Army families. In addition, all forums will be live streamed to a virtual audience across the country and overseas."

The Military Family Forums include:
