I will be traveling to Japan for a year in a couple of months for school. Right now, my vehicle is a 2016 Chevy Cruze, under 58k miles. Does have a history of someone hitting the front passenger side, but all damages have been repaired fully, and there has been no issues. Great condition and all that jazz, been a heck of a car.
My question, as the title states, should I sell the vehicle, or should I maintain what I have now, and come back to it after my study trip.
Vehicle is paid off
No hassle upon return to purchase another
Have to maintain some form of insurance on vehicle while away.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there, @Burate. Thank you for sharing your situation in the USAA Community. We hope you enjoy your trip and studies in Japan! That sounds very exciting.
With regard to your inquiry, I just wanted to chime into the comments to let you know that if you do keep the vehicle & maintain a stateside auto policy, some states do allow us to offer Storage Discounts which greatly reduces the insurance premium since the vehicle won't be operated for an upwards of a year, as you had stated. Please, feel free to connect with our specialists via chat on USAA.com or by dialing 800-531-8722 within the next few months if this scenario ends up being the case so we may look into that option and any other additional savings that might be available to you. /Thank you for your membership. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance or direction. :) ~ Steven
