My daughter is about to be 16 and its time to get her that first car, I am also wanting to start building her credit. Can she being 16 cosign on a vehicle loan with me being the primary?

That's a great question, Gold Eagle. Due to banking regulations, the minimum age to be an account holder for a loan is 18. Therefore, your daughter cannot apply for the loan nor would you be able to co-sign a loan. While I understand that you wish to build her credit, you may consider adding your daughter as an 'authorized user' if you have any active USAA

credit card accounts. To add an authorized user to your account, go to your My Accounts Summary and follow these steps:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the listing of Account Services.
  2. Under the Card Services heading, select "Request an Additional Card for Someone Else."
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your request.

I hope this information was helpful. Please let us know. - Ben
