Hello,

I have one suspicious charge on a credit card that occurred on 4-8-19, but no suspicious activity has occurred since. Is it possible to dispute the charge without cancelling the card? I'm abroad for an extended time, and trying to get the new card through international mail could be tricky.

I really appreciate the help!

Hello, @PhoenixScarlet. I certainly understand your concern! I am getting your post over to a bank specialist who will best be able to review and assist with this. Thanks for hanging in there. :) ~ Steven

Thank you for your continued patience @Pheonixscarlet. With disputing a transaction, if certain reasons for dispute are selected the system will close the dispute page and launch a Fraud review tool. This is to better protect the member in the event of fraud. When selecting the reasons for dispute please ensure all details are provided to minimize this case, if anything else is needed please feel free to reach out to us. -Emily

@Pheonixscarlet, Yes, a dispute can be processed without canceling a credit card. You may submit the dispute on the USAA website by following these steps:

  1. Select the credit card account.
  2. Locate the transaction in question.
  3. Select the + sign to show the details of the transaction.
  4. Select Dispute Transaction
  5. Follow the prompts to dispute a credit card transaction.

Hope you're enjoying your time abroad! ~DC

Thank you for your reply. I did go through the steps, but when I got to the final step, I received this notice: "All cards associated with the selected transactions will be cancelled, and future charges on those cards will be declined." I did not proceed so as to not cancel my card. Is there any workaround? I thought maybe there would be since it was only one suspicious transaction that didn't cost much.

Thanks again for the help!
